Happy (belated) New Year!
Happy New Year to all my creative friends š
This is a couple of days late as I was busy on New Yearās Day with boring housework before going back to work yesterday.Ā
I have also been creatively busy with the shawl I talked about last time šĀ Iām most of the way through it and I love the pattern and the yarn Iām using šĀ itās my first time using Caron cakes and I love everything about it, itās soft, the weight is lovely, the way the colours change is subtle and the colours themselves are gorgeous. I started with the Cherry Chip first wanting to save the Blackberry Mousse for the next one (Iām a āsave the best til lastā kinda girl š
Hereās the Cherry Chip Caron Cake as a little reminder:
Following the pattern is easy enough, itās mostly chains and trebles (UK – doubles in US terms). It works up quickly and you can see the pineapples as they take shape, itās really quite lovely. I am very much a visual person and where possible I love to follow a video, I feel like Iām working together with someone and I like to see other peopleās techniques too. The video provided by Jonna is excellent and so easy to follow, sheās very clear and takes her time, and also she doesnāt go off topic which I have found with some videos Iāve followed previously.Ā
So here is my progress so far, Iām up to round 20 and hoping to finish by the end of the week š
I have also started the Kathryn Kerr 365Challenge which is to make a quiltĀ block a day for a year. Iāve never heard of this before and it was my bestie K that suggested we do it to keep us both motivated all year. As itās only 3rd January today, and I was back in work yesterday, Iāve only managed two block and cut out the third. Hopefully tonight I will be up to date, I had planned on just cutting out through the week and piecing them on the weekend, but as the first few are simple they didnāt take long to do š
I would love to see what youāre all up to š
Happy crafting š xxx
