Happy Home 😊

I never thought it would happen, but I am actually a home owner! We got the keys on Tuesday and work is already underway! The garden was a jungle but has been pretty much cleared in the last couple days, the kitchen has been ripped out and there was a little room attached to the kitchen which has been pulled down! I can’t believe how much has been done already 😊 it’s so exciting!

There are some flowers at the end of the garden which I am hoping we can dig up and put in pots as they’re growing against a wall that will be taken down. I don’t have green fingers at all so everything crossed they survive πŸ˜‚ so far I’ve only been able to keep succulents alive…even my cacti are struggling 🀣

I was happy to see a little cat snoozing on the wall, although she probably won’t be happy when we knock the wall down πŸ™ˆ I do love cats, and I do believe my “spirit animal” is a cat 🐈 or I was a cat in another life. Hopefully I will have one again, one day.

For me, the most exciting part will be the sewing room! I’ve seen so many ideas online, so far I definitely want peg boards on one wall so I can hang up rulers, scissors etc, I need a bigger cutting table at a more practical height and a proper ironing station. I also want a steam press, hopefully I will have room! I will need lots of shelves, and I’d like a table with my machine built into it so the bed is level with the table top. All these ideas lol and it seems so far away…

I recently started a Facebook Page so I can share quick updates and pics of my makes. I recently posted pictures of this beautiful Mini NCW I made for my mum for her birthday. You may remember the Jade handbag I made for her which she knew about, so I made her a matching purse which was a nice surprise for her 😊 It was my first time using a twist lock, it was scary cutting a hole in the flap after having put it altogether πŸ˜–Β but thankfully it turned out fine 😊 I’m actually very proud of how it turned out and I was sad to see it go, but my mum was so happy to receive it which made it totally worthwhile πŸ’œπŸ–€

I finished the little cross stitch kit that was in the Craft Pod I mentioned in my last post. It is so cute and was so quick to do. The design is by Lucy from my favourite blog, Attic24. I haven’t done any cross stitch for so long, it was nice to get into again and it’s so satisfying to finish something, which is why I love a small project. I think I will tie a ribbon to the top of it and hang it up when we move in to our new house 😊 it will look so cute hanging up in my new sewing room 😍

Mostly this week I have been cross stitching and I’ve also made a start on some little cotton face scrubbies to replace cotton wool pads. They can be thrown in the wash and reused, meaning less waste 😊 I hate waste 😁 I’ve only made 5 so far, but they’re quick and super cute 😍 the perfect project for evenings sat in front of the telly after a long day at work 😊 I’m thinking I need to make a little Kismet Trinket Box by Sew Sweetness to keep them in πŸ€”Β I’ll have to add it to the list πŸ˜‚6a279e0a-90fb-485c-8e94-9b3b967d899a-7434-00000623d53e7e60_file.jpgI also have on my list a man-bag to make for G’s brother. He lives in Greece and wants a bag for his Mac when going to and from his new office. He found some pics of the style he likes and has chosen his fabric & faux leather. I found a similar pattern to the style he picked but I now need to figure out how to reduce the width πŸ™„ hopefully I’ll be able to work it out πŸ˜– I think this will be my project now over the next week or two (or three lol). Here are the fabrics and hardware I’ll be using:img_8446I’m using chestnut brown faux leather, dark brown webbing for the straps, bronze rectangle rings & magnet snaps and Star Wars Rogue One fabric for the lining.

I also think it’s time I finished my “Home Sweet Home” wall hanging, it seems appropriate now and would be nice to have it finished for when we eventually move in 😊 I started this project a couple years ago in a class with Trease Lane of Patchwork Lane. She’s a great teacher and so lovely, I’ve done a few classes with her and learned so much. This project is a quilted & appliquΓ©d wall hanging, I only got as far as creating a few of the little patchwork blocks and cutting out and fusing all of the appliquΓ© pieces in place.

I really loved doing the little blocks with the foundation piecing technique. This is like paper piecing except we used a thin foundation stabiliser/interfacing from Vilene, I can’t remember exactly what it was called, but you can trace your pattern to it and add your fabric pieces and because it’s fabric, you don’t need to tear it away and it provides some stability to the fabric 😊 Now that I’ve gone back through my photos, I am excited again about this and would love to get it finished before we move into the house 😍

My bestie’s sister is due back from America today. She is so sweet and has been sending me lovely shots of the Sydney cross-body bag I made for her, it’s so great to see one of my bags in use 😍

Blimey! I didn’t think I had this much to share, this post is much longer than I expected πŸ˜‚ thank you for reading and well done for sticking with me!

Hope you have a lovely, crafty week 😊 xxxπŸ’œHπŸ’œxxx
