Lookie what I made…

IMG_9186Yep, I made something 😊

Liz Schaffner of Moments Designs is back designing after a well deserved break and I joined in on one of her fun testing groups for her new creation, The ZIP-tastic Pouch. This versatile little pouch (and larger option!) is aptly named thanks to Liz’s genius zipper techniques.

I’m sure you’ve made a pouch, coin purse or something similar but those zippers always cause issues after turning right-side out and you have dents and bulges at the ends, and no matter how much you squish it, press it or poke it, you just can’t get it neat 😔 IMG_9187

Here is a perfect example of something I made myself a couple of years ago when I was just starting out. I used a basic pouch pattern (it was so long ago I can’t remember where from, so I can’t give credit) and I added a quilted pocket on the front for my iPad Mini. But no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t get those top corners to be perfectly square. It was so frustrating because I’m a perfectionist and to me, it didn’t look perfect even though there’s not really anything wrong with it, it’s still fully functional.

Well, no more! With Liz’s techniques, you will get the perfect corners and zipper ends! Just look at those corners 😍 maybe using dark fabric wasn’t the best idea but when you see the pictures from the other testers and Liz’s prototypes, you can see just how perfect they are!

Not only does this pouch have perfect zippers, it can be used for soooo many things! My smaller version fits my Amazon Kindle e-reader or my iPad Mini in the main pocket, and my iPhone 6S fits in the front pocket with ease.

The larger version fits a regular sized iPad (not the iPad Pro) so I made this for G as his current iPad case was looking a bit worse for wear 😖 it was a great excuse to make him something for a change and so I don’t have to look at the grubby old one any more 🤣

There is also an option to add a strap to the small version, I haven’t tried this yet, but I will! You can check out more photo’s over on the Moments Designs Facebook Page.

I’m never good at picking up on the good things I do and always zoom in on the bad, however, for once I have to say how proud I am of the larger version and my top stitching on the faux leather 😊 it’s sad but it makes me very happy lol 🤣

You might be wondering about the little fish charms on the zippers 🤔 it comes from when G and I first got together and I saw one of those posts floating around the internet of a load of emoji fishes so when I saw it I shared it with G and ever since we call each other ‘my fish’ 🐠😂 a bit odd maybe, but then we are all a bit odd in our own sweet way😁IMG_4108

Back to the sewing…these pouches are perfect and so quick and easy to put together, I will definitely be making some more. They are a great stash buster and are fat quarter friendly which is great if you have bundles as they are usually coordinated to work together 😊

The small one I made using gorgeous black fabric with shimmery copper coloured stars. As it’s a little christmassy, I have offered to donate it to my colleague Kath’s fund raiser for Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff. A dear friend of hers (who was also a colleague but not known to me) recently passed away after a short battle with cancer and she had raised over £80,000 for Velindre before she passed away. Kath has made lots of lovely charm bracelets which she has been selling at the office to raise money so when I made this pouch, this was my first thought of what to do with it. There will be a tombola at the end of this month so my little ZIP-tastic pouch will be one of the prizes and will hopefully go to a lovely home.

I hope you love these zipper pouches as much as I loved making them! If you want to make your own, you can get the pattern here (on SALE until November 12) or I can make one for you!

Have a lovely weekend all, stay warm, stay dry and keep crafting xxx💜H💜xxx
